This handbook identifies the usual planting and harvesting dates on a state by state basis for United States field crops covered in the National Agricultural Statistics Service's National program of crop estimates. It updates the information contained in the previous edition of this handbook which was issued in 1997.

The Field Offices of the USDA's National Agricultural Statistics Service compiled the basic information and prepared the estimates of usual dates based on historical crop progress estimates and the knowledge of industry specialists.

This annual report provides statistical information pertaining to the on-farm use of restricted use pesticides. The agricultural chemical use estimates in this report are based on data compiled from the Agricultural Resource Management Survey (ARMS), Conservation Effects Assessment Project (CEAP), and the Vegetable Chemical Use Survey. The report data is grouped by Program States, and contains surveys of chemical application on cotton and apple crops. The data is summarized by product, and only application data for active ingredients which are part of a restricted use pesticide are included in the report.

This publication reported on the production and utilization of citrus fruits for the U.S. and major states; acreage, yield, production and value of cotton crop for the U.S. and major states. In 1996, it ceased publication and the cotton and citrus production estimated began being included in the May 10, 1996 issue of the Crop Production report.

This special publication provides information about the amount of corn, sorghum, soybeans, cotton, barley, oats, rice, sunflowers, and wheat that farmers intended to plant in 1991. The National Agricultural Statistics Service telephoned a cross section sample of farmers and ranchers throughout the nation to ask for their intentions.

This publication presents data on the quantity of seeds held in storage after a single growing season. The seed carryover rate, by state is presented by pound. This publication was produced from 1976 to 1981.

This publication includes statistics on cotton supply and consumption in both domestic and world markets. It includes information on crop acreage and yield, prices, grade, staple length, tenderability and occasional data on man- made fibers. Publication coverage from 1920 to 1978.

This publication was produced from 1964 to 1971 and included information on the total cotton and cottonseed produced annually. Data includes the yield per acre, total amount of cotton lint and seed produced, disposition and value of cotton seed, and monthly marketing of lint by farmers.

This publication provides statistics about wool production across the United States. Data on the number of sheep shorn, weight per fleece and pounds of wool produced is included. This publication was produced from 1964 to 1971.

This publication reports on American Egyptian cotton. Information is presented on new varieties of this crop, revisions of grade standards, production, consumption, quotas and import duties, and prices. This publication contains data from years 1911 to 1952.

This special report provides an aggregation of weather data and trends for seven crops by region and selected states, for the years 1866-1948. The data presented may aid those looking to explore the effect that yield variety has on commodity marketing and pricing.
