Description: This report is a chemical use survey issued by the National Agricultural Statistics Service on livestock and reports on insecticide use information on dairy cattle and dairy facilities in 17 selected states. Active ingredients classified by the Environmental Protection Agency as pesticides are included in the report. Pharmaceutical products for internal pests are excluded, but dual purpose products that can be applied internally or externally are included. Chemical use data is provided on a rate per head per application and rate per head per year basis. However, there is significant variation based on product formulation, method of application, and pest condition. Insecticide use information on dairy facilities (applied for the control of insects and pests only) is also included in the report.

Description: This release includes information on insecticides applied to sheep and sheep facilities. Insecticides are applied to sheep and sheep facilities to control mange/mites, lice, flies, and other pests. The 22 major sheep producing States, accounting for over 80 percent of total U.S. sheep inventory, are included in this release. Please note the change in program scope from 2000 to 2010; the 2001 release included all sheep and sheep facilities, the 2011 chemical use data release excluded feedlots and operations with less than 20 ewes. Internal use pharmaceutical products are excluded from the report, but dual purpose products that can be applied internally or externally are included. Insecticide use information on chemical applications to sheep facilities are also included in the report. Beginning in May 2010, NASS agricultural chemical use data are published to the Quick Stats 2.0 database only (full-text publications have been discontinued), the latest data releases are available under the NASS Chemical Usage Program.

All data refer to the on-farm use of active ingredients contained in insecticides applied during the 1999 and 2005 calendar years. Insecticides are applied to swine and swine facilities to control mange/mites, lice, flies, and other pests. Chemical data are provided on a rate per head per application and rate per head per year basis. However, significant variations may be observed due to formulation, application method, and pest condition. Internal use pharmaceutical products are excluded from the report, but dual purpose products that can be applied internally or externally are included. Insecticide use information on chemical applications to swine facilities (excluding rodenticides and termite applications) are also included in the report.

NASS Cattle Predator Loss
Description: This full-text file was released as a collaboration between the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Wildlife Services.
